LRDG WIP 5

Some chipping and some highlights added, and a layer of MIG African Earth pigment.

Now what? Do I add more dust and dirt? Put a layer of shade on the pigment, since the red earth is more sub-Saharan than North Africa? Put a layer of matte varnish over it, call it good and move on?

  1. Attention to detail on this is insane! Terrific work.

  2. Thomas: Do NOT mix pigment and matte varnish. I sprayed Testors Dullcote matt vanish on top of my ISU 122s w Vallejo pigment and the bloody varnish queered the pigment and turned it all white.
Do one or the other, not both.

    1. That is scary! I use Vallejo Matte Varnish brushed on and have never had a problem with pigment, but I have a can of Testors on the shelf. I shall have to test this as I was saving the Testors up for use on a vehicle. Good thing it's too cold to spray outside or I could have had this problem before you had time to tell me!

  3. Forgot to say, chipping and weathering looks fabulous. I wouldn't do anything else to that model except show it off.

  4. Now we're talking! Looks good as it is, don't think you need any varnish!

    1. I was thinking a matte varnish for protection, as it is the pigment is held in place by the liquid pigment medium only and if we're going to use this for a Con game, the unwashed masses will be touching my lovely truck!
