LRDG WIP 3





Work continues. Still trying to figure out how to paint the sand ladders hanging on the side. The jerry can is marked with a white cross, I read somewhere that this was used to indicate cans only to be used for water. True or not, it adds a bit of colour.

EDIT: it was indeed true, and I was indeed wrong. Thanks to Jocke for pointing it out and for providing this excellent pic of what it should look like. I'll get it right on the next one I build.

    From the memoirs I've read of the desert and of Italy, where everyone complains about the taste of gas and oil in the drinking water, I'm betting that a lot of guys ignored the white cross when they needed to put gas in something.
    Definitely a good idea in theory.

  2. I think the cross usually was a cross and not an "X". Not sure, though. To late to check tonight, I'm off to bed.
