Bank Holiday Painting

It has been far too long since I updated. A lot of fun stuff, such as GothCon and some less fun stuff, such as the flu, has happened since then. I will talk more about GothCon later. The flu, well, the less said the better, to be honest,

Friday May 1 was a public holiday in Sweden and I celebrated by painting miniatures. I finished Claus von Richthofen for Dust and an MG42 gunner for my WW2 winter project. I also did five Martians but they will show up once I finish the rest of their squad.

First, Claus. I am not really happy with the way his splittertarn trousers turned out, the edges of the pattern are too soft and the pattern itself is not quite right, but he will have to do. I'd rather go on to all the other wonderful figures I have waiting than redo one in the hope of getting it better.

An MG42 gunner from CP Models. Not really happy with the way he turned out either, but he has been sitting on my desk for a year, it was time to get him finished and moved on. Same here, I have tons of lovely minis, including a Schwimmwagen in the pipeline.

  1. I think that Claus mini turned out nice though - especially the highlighting on the leather jacket looks spot on! Looking forward to that Schwimmwagen :0)

    1. Thank you. I use "simple but effective" as my lead words when painting and try to remember that what I paint will be viewed at arm's length. Decent will do.

  2. Inget fel med dem, de ser jättesnygga ut, faktiskt!

    1. Tack för det. Ikväll ska jag googla hyenor, för nästa figur har en sådan som husdjur. Det ska bli ett intressant mönster att återskapa.

    2. They are looking great. I love to se Tina und Hyäne :-)
I'd love to play Dust soon, by the way

    3. Just been googling hyenas to get a feel for their pattern. Tina is on the paint table.

  3. We are always more critical of our work than we should be. Here is a good example as they are good looking figures

    1. Thanks, Ian. Wise words.

    2. They both look fine, Thomas. Ian is quite right. The officer has a Michael Caine/Eagle has Landed vibe to him. Very cool.
Hope you're fully recovered from the flu!

    3. Thanks, Mike. Yep, he is a lovely figure. Now I just need a plane for him to pilot. And yes, the flu has finally gone away but it took a month and more.

  4. Real nice figures. I think you are too hard on yourself. I also think that you could paint the base of the officer with rust and metal to get a more industrial look. The snowy fighter is quite nice and look like a veteran! :) Fortsätt måla kompis, ser fram emot att få se din färdiga schwimmwagen.

    1. Yep, the base is just painted grey and washed, not the way I usually do Dust bases. I am painting another hero right now and I have two squads waiting. I guess I'll do a round-up of figures and do them all together.
